Happy Birthday Mom!

Featured imageFeatured imageFeatured image

Today is my mom’s birthday….and of course I don’t have a funny birth story…since she is the mom, and all….so, instead…I will just share a bunch of happy memories…..my favorite memories about my upbringing with my mom are..getting my ears cleaned out and watching the ants carrying away my ear wax, together….watching her knees buckle when a water pick made my ear bleed…I think those were the same day…. photo shoots on the back porch, having the coolest parties in school, seeing her face after brain surgery…getting surprises in my suitcase on trips…my moms reaction to my picture on a coffee table book, my mom’ s reaction to my acceptance into grad school…and my first school dance when she chaperoned and was dressed in disco clothes with a hair weave…our trip to NYC…the first time she praised me for my art…the time she crammed two of my sisters and I and our luggage in a two door jag and drove a 100 miles in the wrong direction…things I appreciated about my upbringing were…I never had a curfew, my best friend got to move in with us, and we always had something to do. My favorite mantra is “the only thing constant is change”… She said that to me…she gives and gives and gives…but isn’t good at receiving, the best gift I ever got from her is love and approval…so I will give it back…I love you Mom…happy birthday!…tomorrow…or today…or whenever you get to read this.-Laura
